So Far, Bern is my favorite city in Switzerland. Everything is beautiful! There was a fire in 1405 that burned down most of the city so they rebuilt it with sandstone buildings, all very uniform in appearance. We saw many lovely buildings including the Cathedral of Bern, the church of St. Peter and St. Paul,  City Hall, the Swiss Parliament building and many others. The town has several clock towers with the most famous being the Zytglogge Clock Tower which dates back to the 12th century. In the early part of the 16th century, an astronomical clock was added which has struck on the hour ever since! Bern is also home to 4 brown bears which are the symbol of Bern and one appears on the city’s coat of arms. There are 100 public fountains located throughout the city. Many have interesting histories behind them and some offer free, drinkable water to thirsty passers-by. We walked up the steep hill to Rosengarten which is a public park with over 200 kinds of roses and other types of flowers. The views of the city were very nice.
