Bacharach, Germany

We spent a few hours exploring Bacharach. It is a very small town with only about 1,500 residents. The oldest building, Altes Haus dates back to 1368. Bacharach boasts of its well-preserved medieval buildings, walls and numerous towers. Burg Stahleck is an impressive 12th-century castle that sits high up on the hill and is now a youth hostel. The surrounding steep hillsides are covered with vineyards and Bacharach is famous for its wine, especially Reisling.
