Batu Caves has a series of caves and cave temples. It takes its name from the Malay word batu, meaning ‘rock’. The cave complex is one of the most popular Hindu shrines outside India. Also referred to as Cathedral Cave, the Temple Cave is dedicated to Lord Murugan, the Hindu God of War. Guarding its entrance is a majestic and magnificent 42.7 metre-tall golden statue of Lord Murugan, which is also the tallest Lord Murugan statue in the world.

This was an impressive site to see! At first sight, the 272 steps up to the caves look a bit daunting, but definitely worth the effort.
